I bought a band saw at a garage sale for $30. It runs, but I'm trying to find a manual or any website that talks about this saw. I can't even find the Anco company, let alone a manual. I don't believe this is the same as "Enco" because the tag clearly has an "A", and the model number doesn't show up on Enco's website.

Help!

Try asking over here: The Garage Journal Board - Powered by vBulletin

Post it in the vintage tool section and I almost guarantee someone will be able to help.

Being made in Taiwan in the 1980s, it's most likely a brand that didn't last long, and was sold through one of the bargain price retailers such as Harbor Freight. It may be fine for light duty, but I would not try it without fabricating some kind of protective cover for that pulley and belt. Having that exposed is an accident waiting to happen.

Supposedly, the person that owned it for a long time was a professional carpenter and made a living off of it, so I was hoping it wouldn't be a small off-brand company. Most people who are serious about their work buy good tools. His son sold me this bandsaw, and there were several more woodworking tools.

Got to agree with Hemlock - first, get a cover over that belt - that is an accident waiting to happen. Second, it looks like a near duplicate of my Central Machinery Harbor Freight bandsaw, except for the paint color. I'm sure the manual for one of those would tell you anything you needed to know. (It also means you MAY be able to find some parts at HF.)

The way the blade runs over the top wheel is important. Although you can get it to stay on fairly easily, if it doesn't tension and track right it may skew the cut. There are rubber blocks in the drop guide that can wear away. IIRC, I paid $200 new for mine.
