We have an annual needlework exhibition hosted by the historical society near here. They take non-professionals only, and most forms of handwork (beading, cross stitch, embroidery). They have an outside judge with credentials come in (judges vary year to year).
Every year I'm "going to" enter, but this year I finally actually did. I got 2nd and 3rd place ribbons for two beaded necklaces and a third in miniatures for an Oriental carpet done in embroidery floss. I'm thrilled, and stunned! And I'm really glad I finally entered.

Congratulations! That must be such a great feeling.
I have all three here; not sure how they'll show up. The snake had a tongue added, in the form of a loop so you could wear him as a necklace by putting his tail through his tongue. The other necklace is a triangle, like a half bandana shape, and the rug, if you can see it, speaks for itself.
Thank you for the kind comments, but the real reason I posted was having seen other wonderful work here and people have been encouraged to sell or show and I hope they do. Even if I hadn't won a ribbon, it was very nice to see my work among others on display. By itself that was very gratifying.
Thanks for the compliments, but I feel the same when I see the things others post here.
The snake, who I love, was a free internet pattern for a small guy; I just kept on doing that same in-the-round stitch until he was as long as I wanted him. (Wait until you see what I have for next year.)
