I like working in silver and gold, I prefer to purchase any stones used but I may get into lapidary someday. I enjoy wood carving, ended up taking some knive making courses that was enjoyable as well. I like pencils and charcoal. Might take up some watercolor someday. I have carved and cast some bronzes, nothing real large just a couple feet in height.
I have done quill work in the past with some beading, all in the native spirit. I like the small trade beads and have collected a few hundred colors of beads, all in a hundred hanks each or so.
I have found art contests to be slanted toward paintings, all the judges are usually painters. I have had friends who painted and only considered painting the real art. Even looking down their noses at watercolor.
Looking foreward to retirement, set up a nice barn with my kilns and casting machines. This house has too small of a garage to set up a good studio.
I love to paint using gouache on found materials, though sometimes nowadays It can be out of my budget so I'll use chalk pastels to get the same effect.
