Any body got any links to tips for hosting a wine party? I downloaded a free guide on the process of tasting wine at The Wine Tasting Room , but I could use some tips on what range of wines to serve, glassware, etc.
Well, find out what food goes with what wine? I like reds, big reds, Dark Chocolate goes well with almost any red wine. I wouldn't be to overly concerned with the presentation of glassware, if a $60.00 glass breaks by someone who wouldn't know the difference between that glass and a $2.00 glass, you would be the only one upset. Have every one bring a bottle, who knows who likes reds, whites, dessert wines, etc.... I would have quality cheese and crackers though. one thing that I serve that goes over well is, I get french bread, slice it in 1/2" peices. I toast it lightly in the oven and then place a dab of brie and then some good cranberry chutney or jam on it and then back in the oven for a few minute for the brie to melt. Every one seems to love them. I would be informal, unless you are the Jaguar in the driveway type. make every one feel welcome and have fun, we all have different tastes for wine so what's not great to some one, may be the best for the other. No one is wrong. Bottom line, Have fun!!! Just enjoy a night with good friends, make sure no one is drunk when the drive home. That is the most important part of the night. Best wishes,
