I'm a flier of a 6'6" (Prism)wide stunt kite and I just bought my daughter one for March, does anyone else fly stunt kites here?
Mine is sorta like this one;
Oh well, since I seem to be the only one I'll tell you what you're missing;
The kites we have require two strings to fly, this way you can steer the kite side to side. When the wind is high (15-20 mph) it's a BLAST to fly. Yesterday we, my wife daughter and self, went to a local feild were the wind was approx 12 mph. It was my daughters (of 9.5yrs) first time so I needed to take a lot of extra time to show her how to handle the kite. At the end of the day she admitted that she wasn't expecting to have to work so hard and expected to "just hang out". My kite cost a little over $100 and the other two were $55 each. The more expensive the kite the less you want to crash it! Anyway they are loads of fun and I would suggest any one to get one and spend some time at a beach, where the wind is steady.
Those kites remind me of visiting the Oregon coast during the summers as a kid. Lincoln City, OR used to have a kite festival, it was alot of fun to watch.
