The Penguins’ Sidney Crosby has been named the top athlete under the age of 25 by Sporting News magazine.

The Sporting News panel considered 100 accomplished young athletes from seven different sports before trimming the list to 50 and then the final 25.

Athletes were judged on major stats; championships to which they’d made major contributions; buzz factor; and age.

And he's already the 3rd best in scoring playoff points (points per game) in NHL history behind Gretzky and Lemieux

I could agree with this, even though there may be a few, that have just as much or more potential, that are under 25, out of the 4 major sports, yes, he's the most accomplished for those under 25.

The Flyers occasionallly go after aging superstars; do you think Crosby would be interested in signing here in 14 years?

It would take at least that long to purge all the "Hey, Sid, no diving" signs from the entire metro region.

A function of the fact that he's scored more points versus the Flyers than he has against any other team in the NHL.

The more hate, the more he's motivated to score......paraphrased words from Crosby himself.

Did I say he was a lousy hockey player? Nope ... don't think I did. He may be a whiny baby, but he's a damn good hockey player.

Aging AND injury-prone. Holmgren still tried to sign Forsberg as recently as January. When in doubt visit the Home for Retired Hockey Players.

Crosby's hassled in every city he plays in because of his talent and the fact every team would love to have him playing for them. He could have Moe and Larry on his line and still score 30 goals.
