Not sure how this season will come down. The team's got grit, but we lost a lot of talent during the off season. What are your opinions on the chance to make the playoffs?

Also, did we sign Berard?

Default Nice to see Al Arbour

Although it was probably just a publicity stunt, it was nice to see "Radar" back behind the bench one more time. The raising of the new banner and seeing some of the old players was great.

Good job and class act by Ted Nolan.

What does everyone see this offseason? I believe they are on the right track with all of the young talented forwards. The need an anchor on defense and a finisher up front.
Should be a great draft pick.

Disclaimer...I am a diehard Rangers fan.

The Islanders had their pep-rally tonight (friend of mine went). He said it was really cool...with the coaches and a few players there answering questions (some very direct) about the Islanders rebuilding prospects. I actually wish I could have gone...the Rangers are too big an organization to have an intimate fan-based function like that. It's a great thing the Islanders do.

the main theme that seemed to come out of it was the need for a big-time power forward and better consistency staying out of the penalty box.

Stay young, but get a goon who can skate and play to protect the youngsters. The "D" was forced to grow up quickly due to injuries, lets see if we can trade some of 'em. Tambellini has to be given a 2 month tryout on the first or second line to see his PP potential. Skating him on 3rd or 4th is a waste.

From a Rangers fan's perspective, Jack Hillen and Kyle Okposo didn't look out of place in their short stints at the end of the season. The last two games against the Rangers, they looked like solid NHLer's with a bright future. Throw in Sean Bergenheim and Blake Comeau, who both played strong this year and the Isles might have something to build around. Much like what the Rangers are doing with Dubinsky, Callahan, Staal, Korpikoski, Dawes and Girardi. In today's NHL, you need solid young players as your core and then add some veteran role players to your roster, much like the Pens and the Red Wings, my pick for the 2 Stanley Cup finalists.

Give Kip Brennan a regular spot on the team.

Who likes what the Isles did in the draft? I am always a fan of the Bill Parcell's old style of stockpiling picks. I think it was a great move. Short sighted Islander fans booed the moves but to me its rediculous. Id like to see those fans' scouting reports on the draft prospects.

I don't know about the moves. Filatov was supposed to be a sure thing (as sure as a draft pick can be). I would have rather seen trading the pick for a lower pick and a player who is closer to making the team.

Snow needs to be better with free agents this year. Don't overspend on over the hill players like Guerin. Don't dare bring back Yashin!!

You can replace Satan's paltry 12 goals cheaply with free agent Antii Miettinen from Dallas. Maybe you can get Brendan Morrison from Vancouver on a cheap 1 year contract with incentives due to injury; same thing for Jarett Stoll from Edmonton.

Filatov- tons of talent but I am not a fan of russian players. They do not seem like winners to me. i.e. Yashin
As an overall appraisal. of course Malkin is the exception.
