A team that was once a dynasty and has 24 Stanley cups to its name has now done nothing since 1993.
Used to be any team they played were defacto underdogs, now they live on a glory that has long since passed them by,
As a Montreal fan who remembers the great Montreal teams of the past i just cant figure out why they now have become a total failure with no hope of ever regaining that winning formula.

Modern era salary cap makes it hard for any team to have sustained success, making drafting all that more important. The team is very good, any team with Carey Price is going to have a chance to win every game, but they need more help on offense than the current roster. Your team is close, and with the cap issues that teams like the Blackhawks and Kings are facing, other teams will have a window to take over here.

Expansion, Canadian dollar slump, free agency. Habs are on the rise again.

They don't get all the good players in the draft anymore. They have to share with the other 29 teams now.

Easier to hoard regional talent with 6 teams. Now there is 30 & a salary cap. Plus the preferences of having qmjhl players has hurt.

They'll be back, don't worry. they have too great of a talent pool and too good of an organization not to.

All things in sports go in cycles. you know this. Every great dynasty has ebbed. Yankees. Red Sox. Cowboys. Raiders. Lakers.

Canadiens.

Les Habs!!

Besides, they're already back! they had a great year last year and were peaking at the right time: right when the playoffs began. Sticks went cold, though, and they ran into the best goaltender in the NHL in the second round. I think they can make the finals this year. Would love to see them and my Red Wings meet i the Eastern Finals.

They had a good start this year with a 9-0 win record but now they seem to be back to their normal lackluster selves,

10-2 is hardly a lackluster start.
