This could have been the year that every team that swept their previous series got swept themselves. It started with the Islanders sweeping The Penguins 4-0. Then they got swept by Carolina 4-0. Then Carolina go swept by the Bruins 4-0. It won't happen now since the Bruins won last night, but if St. Louis could have swept the Bruins all teams that swept a previous series got swept themselves. I looked into this and I don't think that has ever happened in the modern playoffs.
The triple-sweep is the first, at least in the modern era. I think it was 1993 that the Sabres swept the Bruins in Round 1 and then the Sabres themselves were swept by the eventual Champs Montreal in the next round.
