I am not Canadian, but from what I am told there are many immigrants that do wear the poppies and many citizens of Canada that do not, so yes Cherry and the way he phrased his statement was wrong. As he now admits he should of used the term "everybody".

Even as a few days ago he was given the opportunity to apologize. Not sure what steps were involved for him to get his job back, but he refused.

Of all the major sports the NHL has been the most pro-active when it comes to inclusion of all races, nationalities, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity. The have an African American female as VP of Social Impact, and a South Korean born female heading up their "Diversity and Inclusion Council". Cherry crossed the line one too many times in face of what the Hockey world is trying to achieve, and do not believe for one minute the NHL did not have an influence on how Rogers Media was going to respond to Cherry's comment. Also note he has made some controversial statements in the past.

Grapes has an outstanding hockey mind, and he is often arrogant, vindictive and obviously politically incorrect, which makes him hard to employ. But what a waste, him out of hockey....
