Kids put in a lot of hard work to get to where they get, and fear retributions that could come. Especially if there are those that may doubt their claim. According to the report, Beach did at one point punch Aldrich. Aldrich basically threatened his career afterword's.
Aldrich was a former athlete (Hockey) himself, so there would of been no certainty that Beach would of been capable of beating Aldrich to a unconscious pulp, as you say.

Yeah. It is always easy to criticize the victim in these matters.
That ignores the psychological and emotional leverage someone in a position of perceived authority has.

I WISH Beach had pounded him senseless, but I have no criticism of him for not doing so at the time.

And as another posted pointed out, similar situations have most likely occurred to others on other teams, and even in every sport.
