Anyone doing fantasy hockey here? I did it one year and it was a bit more involved than fantasy football so I kind of ran out of steam. Thinking about giving it a try again this year.

This is my 1st year at F-Hockey which I decided to play to tide me over for the lapse between the end of F-Football and the beginning of F-Baseball.
I’m in 2 leagues 1 ESPN which just uses Forwards, Defensemen and Goalies with game limit maximums.
My Yahoo league differentiates between Centers, Right Wing, Left Wing, Defensemen and Goalies but their is no maximum players limits.

I’m pretty much lost as to my players but will probably play it like baseball and try to keep the roster slots full when possible.

My opponents should rack up several wins against me as I try to get a handle on this sport.

I went ahead and jumped in. Same Yahoo league I played 2 years ago. It's a fair deal more complicated that F-football if you want it to be. You have to worry about matchups for the week plus how many games teams your players are on actualy have that week, will your goalie rest a game this week or not...I think I'm just gonna play the keep the roster full mentality and not worry too much. If I win I win, if I don't...eh...I'm not paying anything for it.

Yeah there's too much to keep up on and eventually it just becomes a chore, if you want to be competitive. Give me FFball where I can set my roster once a week and boom, I'm done.

Default Help

Do unsigned players get time on the ice and play in regular season games? I ask this because I have Marian Gaborik of Minn as one of my right wings. If he doesn’t play on Saturday, then I want to put a bench player on the ice for that day.

If he's not signed he won't play. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he winds up signed by Saturday. However, if you've got a decent alternative, keep him out of the lineup this week would be my advise. I doubt he'll make much of an impact until a couple of weeks in since he's probably not been getting much ice time with his linemates

Thank you for your response Stormcrow. As I read more into this I think it’s a contract extension dispute and he is due to become a free agent in July 09. This is my 1st year at Hockey and am also wondering if NHL dot com has a roster type thing like MLB dot com letting you know what players are on the starting roster for that day?

Yeah, I looked into it a bit more and he has been playing in the preseason so he'll be good to go.
