well most of the time when a team puts in an interim coach there is not a lot of improvement. So if they bring in Tortorella they may still have a chance at the playoffs.

At least until Avery hits the ice with them and then the freefall will begin!

Avery was a good player in NY. Just because a player was not a fit in one town, doesn't make him a fit in another. Avery is a fan favority, and can revive life in the listless Rangers. If Torts uses Avery correctly, getting under guy's skin and bringing some emotion to the team. Then I can't wait to see Avery in the line up. He seems happy playing in the big markets of NY and LA, more so than in Dallas, where it is not as fun.

I will be fun to see how Avery will be doing his schtick against the Devils Brodeur NorthJersey.com: Rangers fall in Tortorella's return (http://www.northjersey.com/sports/Rangers_fall_in_Tortorellas_return.html - broken link)

I wager someone will be sitting in the box for Marty if Avery tries that again.

Avery tends to play better in places where he is happy. He loved playing in NY and never really wanted to leave, but Sather wouldn't give him what he wanted over the summer and took the money in Dallas. I don't think he'll be a savior like Messier, he isn't in that caliber, but he will bring a swagger back to the Rangers that they haven't had all year. Maybe the end of the game against the Avs on Saturday night was a preview of what the Rangers will be from here on in, with Avery playing and Tortarella coaching. They were feisty and sticking up for one another and were playing the way you should play getting ready for the playoffs, The way they were playing the last month and a half, soft and uninspired, there was no way they were making the playoffs.

Looks like you got your wish today! I just hope he has the same affect on the Rainjas as he did on Dallas. In other words, makes them worse.
