Pavel hands down... All you Ovie fans need to take time away from NHL.com and stop paying attention to those VERSUS announcers who obcess about A.O and really look at what Pavel Datsyuk can do... He is by far the best defensive forward in the world, and can handle the puck so well even the most experienced players take notes from him...
He is a guy that every team in the NHL would want to have play for them.

Respect Pav's and give him credit... It still amazes me that NHL and VERSUS seem to talk more about Cindy Crysby and A.O. and never give Pavel any due credit... The guy is a monster!!!

Ovechkin, not because of NHL.com nor the guys on Versus or NHL network. Here's why:

1. #1 in goals with 56
2. #1 by a huge margin (IIRC by over 150) in shots on goal.
3. He's not afraid to finish his checks and can take the checks.
4. He's an excellent passer of the puck. Game #3 was a perfect example when he set up Semin on the second Caps goal.
5. He plays smart even when he makes mistakes, if you watched game #3 he turned it over on a power play with a Rangers breakaway, OV caught up to the attacker and knocked the puck cleanly away with his stick which most defenders would have taken a penalty.
6. He clearly is a leader on the ice, I won't be surprised at all if he wears the "C" next year from Chris Clark.

Nothing against Pavel as he is an excellent player nor Crosby (even though Malkin is the best on the Pens right now); however, they are one level below Ovechkin. The Rangers should be kissing Lundqvist's feet because this series would clearly be over without him right now and the Caps are clearly frustrated.

You speak the truth my brother!
Yes Ovie is the best. I am not too sure how this point could be argued reasonably. Yes, the Rangers go as Lundqvist goes.
The statement regarding crosby being the second best player on the Pens is also accurate.

Amen! And the fact that Don Cherry can't stand Ovechkin either is good enough for me!

Ovechkin and Crosby are prima donnas, Datsyuk can put it in the net, too, and I am sure his numbers would be higher if he weren't confident enough in himself to share the limelight. Ovechkin and Crosby aren't team players, if they were, the stats between them and their teammates wouldn't be so disparaging.

ovechkin is very much a team player

in fact there are many articles about how good he is in the room and that the main reason he isn't wearing the C right now is because he wanted to get a better grasp on english and be able to communicate with the guys

you shouldn't have to try to run down others to pump your guy up - that only makes for a weak arguement

I am not running anyone down to pump anyone up. I am merely comparing their styles of play and how they interact with their team mates; so shame on you for trying to embarrass me.

Ovechkin for one reason over Crosby, Datsyuk, and Malkin: the ability to make a game changing hit. This guy is a bull.

You would be surprised at some of the hits Datsyuk has made over the years.

Let's not forget also that at the start of the season, A.O. had few goals and it was Semin who was doing the scoring. Once A.O. turned it on, he became a juggernaut.
