Thanks for taking that idiot out of our franchise! I wish you guys the best of luck that he doesn't run your club like he ran the Panthers...

Martin says:
"It’s a unique chance … to come to a market where the fans care." How f'ing disrespectful is that? Now it all makes sense, not signing J-Bo, not signing Booth. scru you Martin, I hope the press in Montreal will rip you apart.

You guys ever see the style that Habs GM Bob Gainey used to play?

He was the premier checking forward on a Montreal team loaded with offensive talent.........shouldn't be a huge surprise he'd go for a defense-oriented coach.

Gainey also was saddled with the requirement that the next Habs coach be fluent in both English and French.

Best French coach, does not equal BEST available coach.
You mean to tell me that someone who only speaks English, could not take a serious crash course and wind up being bilingual by the start of next season? (That's how Celine learned English)
Pathetic hire, look at his post season record.

Sadly, as with many things in Quebec, place of birth is as important a qualification as more relevant skills.

While Martin's first language is French, I think he was actually born in Ontario.

my bad........my point was that there was a limitation placed on the selection process that any new coach be a francophone to appease the Montreal media..........an anglo with a crash course from Rosetta Stone wasn't going to be acceptable.

kinda funny that outgoing coach Guy Carboneau, about as francophone as they come, publicly criticized the limitation.

Agreed, or in other words Quebecois pride = Quebecois ignorance.
