I wasn't so lucky. About a week ago. I purchased a queen size bed at Ikea (Svelvik Bed Frame), and a new Sealy firm mattress from Mattress Firm. The mattress does not fit in the bed (we tucked it in for one night, but we are already taking it out, because it is deforming the mattress). I googled the dimensions of a queen mattress and it says it is 60" x 80" (width x height). Then, when checking the bed frame product information in Ikea's web, it states the following: Mattress length: 79 1/2 "; Mattress width: 59 7/8 ".
About a year ago, I did the same with a bunk bed for my kids, I bought the bed frame at Ikea and the Sealy twin mattresses at Mattress Firm. It worked just fine. Now I'm stuck with a bed I really like, but in a size it seems not easy to find a compatible mattress outside Ikea. Unfortunately for me, price was not exact the issue, I just did not like any of the Ikea mattresses I tried... I really liked the Sealy mattress I got...

just to prevent confusion, that's a mattress for a sofa bed, not a standard queen sized mattress.

As has been noted, their mattresses are standard sizes, give or take 1/2 inch or so, but all mattresses have some individual variation.

Did you contact Ikea and see what they suggest? Is it the length or the width that is the issue? If it's the length, maybe there's a way to insert a wooden block where the rails attach to the headboard, to give you an extra inch of length. You'd need to drill thought it and then use longer screws.
