Why are they not more popular? What are the pros and cons of these tables? I'm thinking about buying them but would like to hear some opinions. Thanks!

my guess is heavy, hard to move around and have to formal of a feel????

Because the style might get 'old' easily, because marble is chilly on the elbows and it's easier to chip a glass or plate on it because it's much harder than wood.

I have no science behind this. Just wild guesses.
