Red - not my favorite - elements of red yes but not a whole kitchen of it. The last kitchen that Elnina posted is at least a bit subdued (a muted red) but it looks more like a condo kitchen and the style is so cold and uninviting looking to me and it doesn't look like anyone actually cooks there - isn't that what kitchens are for - cooking??! I think I would grow quickly tired of a red kitchen.
To the OP - if you cook much, you might want to think of choosing a floor that is easy on the legs, back and feet so definitely you do not want to stand cooking for hours on a hard rock surface. When we have a big dinner party I am in the kitchen for days and all that standing gets to me after a time. Also anything and I mean anything glass or that is the least bit fragile that you drop on granite will break and shatter in a million scattered pieces.
Wilsonart makes a laminate flooring series that looks exactly like travertine (they have other stone-looks as well) - I had it in my last kitchen and loved it. Everyone complimented me on the beautiful travertine floor - you really could not tell. But it had a wonderful cushion that was comfortable to stand on. There are many wonderful floors out there. Do think about practicality and comfort.

Is all about the concept and style here. If a home is in contemporary, minimalistic style, then kitchen like that fits well. OP said that her home is contemporary. A French country style kitchen ( just an example) would be out of place.

I understand perfectly what contemporary style is but thank you for the "lesson."
You all have given me valuable thoughts . Thank You
