Thanks K'ledgeBldr. You were right about no plywood substrate for 3 cm countertops.
AONE,
I wonder how you got the impression that I was getting my relatives to help for this? Jeez .. this is a professional install. I always cross check, so wanted to see what the professionals on this forum would suggest. Better to be safe than surprised. Thanks for the assumption .. NOT
Some granite guys laminate the plywood to the granite in the shop and show up with one peice to install. Therefore the corbels do have to go in last although as a wood guy you wouldn't like that as your best option. Corbels first if possible. If last, they won't be as strong. Who sits on their counters? Is it just me or maybe because we don't have alot of traffic at our place our granite only gets damaged by lemon juice.
I didn't catch it if it was mentioned, is this for 2cm or 3cm granite? I will be getting 3cm granite with a 10" overhang. Was hoping not to have to have anything under it, but, I can if I must. The granite guys suggested that I do.
A 10" overhang shouldn't be a problem with 3cm granite- anything over 10", I'd definitely do corbels.
But, when in doubt- do corbels. Besides it may dress-up the island, peninsula, or whatever has the overhang.
I have seen a link with many corbels to choose from. I don't have the sense of style to even pick one that would fit best with my kitchen.
