Hi everyone,
I can't decide on colors for the living room in my new apartment. Can you please recommend colors for this living room: Pictures by Scraniel - Photobucket
For the following:
couch color
rug color, shaggy or maybe Persian
curtains color
coffee table color, wood or a modern metal look or glass
I was recommended to go with beige couch and dark brown furniture, but I can't make up my mind. Please help!

I don't understand. Are you starting from scratch with your furniture?
If so, then just purchase the pieces that appeal to you in a fabric you like and then worry about the wall color(s) later, when you have a color/tone to take from your fabric or picture.
Hi sanrene,
Yes, I'm starting from scratch with all the furniture (except that small 2-seater in the photos which came with the apartment).
I can't paint the walls because I'm renting (and I don't want to change the color either :-) )
I need help selecting colors for the furniture I will buy soon. It's hard to decide because the floor is a peculiar pattern and color and it's hard for me to picture anything that will match the weird floor. They're not even hardwood floors, but tile with a wood-like print on them. Any suggestions for matching colors for each piece?
Well, I would go with a "medium" stain wood then for your tables.
I really don't see a problem going with any kind of fabric for the sofa that suits your fancy - there are so many out there.
If you're going to buy a sofa AND chair(s), I would keep the sofa more of a neutral and pick a coordinating fabric (stripe, print, floral, whatever) for the chair(s).
I just don't see you going wrong with any choice you make here.
You might want to put up some pics of what you're thinking of.
Hi sanrene,
Thanks so much for your input. I guess I should mention that I'm looking for single-color items and on a budget. :-) I feel like I have to "match" the floor because I feel with the wrong color selection, it might be an eyesore.
As for couch colors, what do you think of the following (just as example images):

Or even dark brown?:

Coffee table (and other furniture) color:

Or something darker:

Or maybe glass or white?
Hi sanrene,

Well, the floor is somewhat neutral even with the subtle difference in the brick pattern. I would not try to match it. You don't know how long you will be there, so the "matched" pieces might not "match" your next home.
Go with what you like, the couches and wood pieces that speak to you. You can always pull in the floor with accessories.
Also, it depends what look you're going for. With the white sofa, that could either be a very clean comtemporary look or have a cottagey feel to it, depends how you pull the room(s) together.
The blue in the kitchen, you would probably be wise to pull some of that blue into your decorating scheme in the other rooms.
Maybe find some "looks" you like of finished rooms and try and replicate it - spending less of course.
Colour matters in building a harmonious home. Choosing and using the right kinds of shades and tones not only breathe life and character to your rooms, but also allow you to determine the unified theme that you would want for your interior design.
I think it would be better for you to ask professional help. Oh! Anyways, the replies here are maybe from professionals so I think they are good.
