Catknap- I am poaching one of your pictures. I LOVE the photo (last one on first post) with the two chairs and game table. I have 2 fabulous, comfy wicker chairs that need a new home and I am about to get rid of a computer hutch in my sons' den. Those chairs with a game table in the middle will be PERFECT!
Great idea, Hope. I want to play too! I like leather furniture also, and would suggest limiting your choices to one or two great leather pieces instead of a set. Mix a leather couch, or a leather armchair and footstool, with fabric covered pieces so the room doesn't look too heavy or masculine. I think the leather would be an interesting contrast in textures with the exposed brick fireplace. My personal preference is to go with a smaller frame on a leather couch, like a love seat. Otherwise, it can get really heavy to move if you want to change the arrangement, put it in another room or future home. If you want the seating for a full couch, I would choose a fabric couch, and add one or two leather side chairs.
I had no idea you could goggle different furniture styles and get all those great rooms.
^I just love that style. With the armillary and the blue and white stripes and the lanterns it gives a bit of a nautical nod without being overdone. I have a fireplace in the room that is tucked in a corner. I would LOVE to paint the brick white as it is too new looking.
This is an experiment because I haven't tried uploading photos to the data forum before. Can someone DM me and tell me what size photos can be uploaded? I may need to resize.
Frazl - open a free photobucket account and upload the pictures you want to share from your computer files onto Photobucket - then just cut and paste the img code of the picture you want to post (from Photobucket) in your post here - the pictures will automatically be resized to fit and you don't have to resize or anything.
Thanks, Cattknap! Here are some examples of mixing leather with fabric, in a cottage feel room. These are from my former home, with my current kitty. Colors are in accents, but there could definitely be more color added on walls, etc. What you don't see in the photos is the full size couch facing the fireplace, covered in fabric.
Crosses fingers that this works.
