I have looked around at tons of local stores where I live as well as online. I really like these 3 desks:

1. Italian Wood Desk | VandM.com

I like it, but it may be difficult to match it with other furniture. Of course, I haven't bought any other furniture for my place yet other than a mattress.

2. knu: Modern Furniture for Home, Office and Healthcare: knu Desk #4, ecofriendly modern desk (http://www.getknu.com/KnuDesk4.html - broken link)

I really like this desk, but it's probably too much money even though I could theoretically afford it. I really love the leg design and maybe I will just shell out the money.

3. Office Star Aurora Computer Desk - AR2544

I really love the leg design on this one, but not the biggest fan of the finish. I wish I could throw this leg design on one of the other ones!

Help! I don't know which one I want! This is after browsing around all day online and looking at various stores for the last month on and off. I am extremely picky and want to make sure I pick something I will want to keep for a long time. Thanks so much in advance!

I suspect that #3 looks cheap in person. If you really like #1, don't worry about it matching the rest of the home- it's one of those styles that plays nice with/complements a number of other common furniture styles from country farmhouse to loft modern. And current decorating philosophy is to not have everything be too matchy-matchy; you want it to look like you're acquired a collection of interesting furniture and accessories in different times and places, not just gotten an entire set from Rooms to Go or something all at once.

I'd probably go with #2. Price-wise, it's a stretch, but I love the style too.

While I like the look of these desks, for me they would be completely impractical. I need drawers and cabinets all within reach of my chair. I really use my home office on a daily basis and a streamlined desk with no deep drawers or cabinets would not work. Maybe you are planning on adding more storage pieces I don't know. How do desks like that really function for someone who uses their office, well like an office?

Of the three, I would go with the first. The only thing you really need to "match" with other furniture is the shade. But I have to agree with Cattknap, they would all be impractical for me, and I would want a desk with drawers and a little more "bulk" to them. All three are too "open", I could get a table to serve the same purpose as these desks.

I like the first desk best.

It will be the easiest to match with other furniture than the other two.

The first option is a style that can be transitional. It will go with modern or traditional furniture.

The other two desk options would only go well with modern furniture.

Thanks everyone. I found out that the first desk is actually about the same price as the second one, but I might be able to negotiate a lower price since it's being sold at a local shop. The second desk is probably going to be too big for the space I have anyway, although I also like it a lot. At least the first desk can easily be matched with a variety of other styles.

As far as storage concerns, I'm thinking about getting a separate mobile file drawer and place my printer on top of that. Then I'll find a small hutch with cubby holes and drawers that matches the finish on the desk and store my computer monitors on top of those.

I would be buying other furniture before I bought the desk. Are you going to use it for a computer?
