Nothing is directly over our bed on the wall. We have a high headboard and medium height thick posts on the top corners. On the bedside tables just above the lamps I have tall narrow pictures hanging on the wall.

We're so traditional -- we have a framed print. A quilt would be a great idea -- insulation!

At my old house, the bed was tucked under the slanted ceiling on the second floor of a 1 1/2 story house. I couldn't hang anything on that wall.

I want to hang something there, but dh insists that it would be dangerous because it might fall on our heads! Reading here has just now given me the idea of a tapestry; something soft that wouldn't hurt his delicate head!!

I have my grandmothers awesome painting above my bed. It's just a painting of a mountain cliff but it's very good, imo.

I used to have framed prints hanging over the bed, but one night one of them fell and it scared the heck out of me so I took them all down.

so to answer your question.. other than a few cobwebs, I have nothing hanging over my bed.

A tapestry is a great idea.. thanks for the suggestion.

I don't have anything over the bed. Actually I agree it may be slightly dangerous. oO The ideas of a tapestry, quilt or even the flag(?) over the bed sound like sleep-friendly alternatives. I think the "crown bed canopy" is pretty. I have never done it, but here's some decorporn:

The question is what do you hang OVER the bed.

Doesn't everyone put mirrrors OVER their bed?

I'm back. I want a chandelier over the bed, but again, Mr. What-if-it-Falls-on-My-Head has nixed the idea....for now. And I don't think his head would be in the way. Has anyone ever really heard of a chandelier falling down? To appease me, he volunteered to put one up in my closet and I like that idea too!

ha ha. Thanks everyone for the replies. We have a chandelier that hangs over our bed. Everyone raves about it. Funny thing is it was in the house when we moved in, just in another room. Its very delicate and ornate and I thought it would be perfect in the bedroom. So I had hubby swap out the light fixtures. Our last headboard was tall so I didnt worry about artwork but the new bed we got is lower and I have a good amount of space above. Actually now that I think about it, all our other houses had something in the way (windows, low ceilings etc) so I never had an empty space to contend with.
