Hi Folks,

I found a blog (It's the little things that make a house a home...: How To: Board and Batten) a while ago that showed an easy way to do board and batten on a budget and to save quite a bit of time. While my wife was out of town last week, I threw this up in the bedroom as a surprise. Fortunately, she loved it! Hopefully the attachments show up. We have some wall decor that we wanted to put up (not seen) that prevented me from doing the higher rail so I kept it a bit lower. You can see that the pictures were taken right after I got done. There is still caulking and paint work to be done.

The real question now that we both have are recommendations for paint colors. We just bought the bedding (Product: Croscill "Galleria" Red Bedding Collection) and we would like to coordinate the walls with the bedding. Also, we will be getting new bedroom furniture soon, so the cherry colored furniture will go.

So the questions we have would be:

1. What color(s) should we choose to match the bedding.
2. Should the heavier color go on top or the bottom?
3. Most all of the board and batten style decorating I have seen is with a white bottom, but I think that would look pretty crappy with this bedding. What do you think? If we left the bottom white, what would you choose for the top?
4. We are planning on repainting both top and bottom, but leaving the ceiling white. (I hate painting ceilings)

Let me know what you all think.

-Travis

I love the blog you linked...however the Dillard link isn't working for me...so I can't see your bedding selection!

Here's the Dillard link for the OP's pattern.
Product: Croscill "Galleria" Red Bedding Collection

However, if you haven't already purchased everything, here is a site I've used which offers Croscill at a discount. For instance, the Gallaria Queen comforter is almost $100.00 cheaper than Dillards. They carry the coordinating wallpaper and borders, too.

The trim work you put on the walls looks a little country compared to your furnishings and bedding. The height and thickness of the trim K'ledge showed would be better. Maybe you can do some nice mouldings at the top to dress it up? Or change it up and do more of a panel wainscoting look?
