yep and a lighter blue and yellow can look like easter. Sounds like the OP has a traditional colonial. Not sure how one can give it a modern edge. I love yellow houses and when they are traditional in style, keeping the colors simple seems to bring out the details in the home. Yellow and white are still one my favorite combos. Add color with landscaping, window boxes and so forth.

Yellow, blue and white is one of my favorite classic color combos, I did a kitchen in it about 5 year ago for a client, still one of my all time favorite kitchens.

Lovely! Not sure how the blue would work on the front of a house though.

In my opinion warm colors go together: so if the house is indeed yellow (not gray) then what about a red/dark red/burgundy door??

I love purple and yellow together....but in order for it to feel upscale enough it has to be a very neutral purple. Two I like are from Sherwin Williams and they are dark and moody; SW 6278 Cloak Gray or SW 6019 Poetry Plum . I think as long as we're talking a nice calm yellow and not, like, highlighter yellow it would look nice.

But, yes, post pics.

I would paint the trim white and the door glossy black and flank the door with large red glazed pots filled with brilliant periwinkle blue hydrangea or large glazed blue pots planted with Orange Kangaroo Paws.

When you paint your door purple or blue, it is difficult to decorate your door for Christmas and Fall. I also think it smacks just a bit of trying tooo hard to make a statement.

Keep the door neutral - jazz up the entrance with modern glazed pots and brilliant pops of contrasting plant color.

If you have a porch add a bench - find something that is a little different - like faux bois...then use some lively fabric pillows to make a modern statement.

Does the house have trim? I would paint the trim and the door an off white, stone color.
