I would want to define the living room vs entry way by putting a short room divider to the right of the door. It could be as simple as a short narrow console table for the mail etc or a railing type divider. Nothing too heavy as the room size does not dictate larger scale pieces.
What are the dimensions of the room? What are the measurements of the existing furniture? Are they in scale with the room? I've always find it helps to make a scale drawing of the room and then cut outs of furniture to scale. You can play around with configurations and see what might work. Not sure if you're willing to buy new but there are furniture lines out there that will work in a room like yours- squared off arms, not too deep seat depth.
Sorry this is a tease but should have some furniture moved in on thursday/friday. The room is 17' long x 11' wide. Pictures will be loaded, although I'm still buying/replacing pieces.
