My style is casual, artistic/emotional, non-whimsical. By artistic/emotional, I mean some choices are made because for example a certain color reminding me of a special person in my life, etc.

Ironically, I have avoided certain colors for the same reason.

I'm attracted to so many diverse styles that I don't really have a style.

It would be interesting to know what style I would chose if I had money to do anything.

I am traditional, I think, but my color choices begin with the art in the room. We buy affordable, original art which we find interesting and compelling, for whatever reason. Our furnishings tend to be traditional because they must be comfortable and un trendy. We are not above throwing in something crummy, for character, or something whimsical, because it makes us smile when we look at it. An example of this is a Mark Soppeland Guardian lamp we have.
Strangely, when I use this method of decorating, all the rooms manage to coordinate with each other by default, not by plan. Anyway, visitors tend to think we're interesting, which I consider better than totally tasteful.

I guess you could describe my style as "post-apocalyptic Prairie tribal". I love tribal art from all over the world and put it in a prairie style home with furniture that is more "gilded age meets crafstman style on a budget" inside, like most Utah homes of the period.

The apocalypse part happens after my kids walk in the room and start doing what kids do while I clean my guns on the front porch.

I have drifted from the ultra relaxed look of "shabby chic" to more of a Swedish Gustavian style with touches of French country/French colonial eclecticism

Ethan Allen website has a "Find your Style" section. Its a little quiz of sorts asking you to select an image that appeals to you. I have taken it several times. Each time it comes up with a different style. I like a lot of different things.

I don't trust a corporate website like that because their goal (IMO) is to sell you their products. The straightforward label that fits me is casual. But I like to say I'm casual-creative-emotional
