stan, I have to say I've agreed with you throughout this thread. But one place where there was money and no taste?
Graceland.
I don't know what Elvis was smokin' but that whole house is one big in my humble, non-credentialed opinion.
Anyone been there? The man put shag carpeting on his ceiling. I actually shook my head during the tour.
Prime example.
My mom laughed so hard going through Graceland the tour guide thought she was crying and kept handing her tissues, which just made my mom laugh even harder.
Oh, the memories!
Wasnt the carpeting on the ceiling in the Jungle Room?
George Golden made that place a comfortable home for Elvis to return to, he lived in it, loved it and died in it.
Whether George Golden liked it or not means nothing.
We need to create a space that we are happy to come home to, whether we create it ourselves or depend on others to create it for us.
Oh I just know I am going to hear about this! I think the designer who glued hay to the walls in Trading Spaces was Genevieve Gorder and although she seems to be a very nice, likeable person I am not at all crazy about her decorating style. I really don't watch her anymore.

poorly done DIY projects and the owner is just so proud they added that amenity.
