I am painting a two story staircase and hallway of an 1850 colonial house and am trying to choose the color. I keep going back to BM's historical color "Beacon Hill Damask" because I like that it is not too light and not too dark and its in the muted yellow/green family. I really like it but think it is a color that could look awesome or go all wrong being way too bright in large sunny areas. The bottom portion of the staircase is enclosed with not a lot of light while the second half has vaulted ceilings with tons of light. So the color has to work in both.
Anyone ever used this color? If not this color I was drawn to BM's Light Khaki too but it could go too brown.
Or any other BM color recommendations in this color family? I don;t want a boring cream color.
I like that color. IMO, you can't go wrong with anything from the historical colors collection! If you want to see a bit more info/photos, this site can be useful:
I love the Benjamin Moore Squire Hill Buff. It's not in the historical collection, but is just a nice neutral tone. I've used it in both of my homes, along with Blonde Wood (same color strip but one up).
