I think so the colors for each room depends on your tastes, you can curtains up any room in the color of your choice. Be aware that certain colors are generally accepted for some parts in the standard bases of the interior.
Do you also agree that the wall color isn't right?

This dislike of the wall color...I've just had two rooms in my house painted green (Behr's Green Tea in the living room and Behr's Palm Breeze in the bedroom) with white trim, and had the oak floors refinished.
Am I hearing that green, or green with wood floors, is a no-go?

All I can do is speak for myself here.......that being said, using green with wood floors depends on the color of green, and the color of the floor.
If I'm seeing some blue in your couches, then the curtains can be blue, I like the idea of brown, or a green to match the walls. It really is true that you want your colors to match within a room, unless you are trying for a modern or eclectic style. But your room is traditional, so best to match.
I think you should listen to some of the advice here about how you've got too much furniture in the room. I do love that coffee table, but it is too large to be in the center of the room.... you can push it over to the wall, to act as a side table for one couch and one chair. If you arrange the piano right, the bench can offer extra seating if you'll tie to the legs a cushy cover on it. The room could use a mirror since it is so small.

Personally, MOST greens look very nice with most wood tones. There are exceptions of course but green is one color that really makes wood tones pop.
I am assuming thast the pix are of the room in question.......if so, there is more than 1 problem here...
First, there is way too much furniture for such a small room.
Second, I am not seeing anything in that room that will have anything in common with red.
Its very difficult to introduce a color that has nothing in common with the rest of the room.
Third, how about some pix of the windows?
Last but not least, the room in question is begging for an area rug, as well as some accessories.
The room was just recently redone, hence the lack of accessories. They got an extra piece for the furniture set because they anticipate sending me with the piano when I move out next year.
We have already chosen a different furniture layout than in the pics to make it at least functional for the time being, but yes they got furniture that is too large for the room in my opinion.
The walls are a light beige color. There is no blue in the couches... more of a brown. I will see if I can snap some more photos in better light. However, I think a yellow/light gold color was chosen for the curtains.
I'm also eager to get some kitchen opinions. That's next. And boy does it need some work! But under a tight budget as usual.
In the meanwhile, survey question: Does all the trim in a house need to be the same color?
