We just got the hallway, stairs and all the rooms but one done with high quality carpet with a floral motive. The room that has not been done is over the garage so sound insulation is not an issue but it also might be colder and we live in NJ. The room is currently a sowing room and we don't plan to resell soon. My husband is dying for hardwood so my question is:
Is it a decorating faux-pas to have hallway, stairs, and 3 bedrooms in one carpet with a pattern and then put hardwood floor in the remaining room?
FYI: We have a giant left over piece of the patterned carpet almost big enough for the last room and several other remnants so we could install the same carpet at considerable labor cost but it would have a mismatched seam at two places - probably not the way we want to go.
Whatever you want and like is OK. It's your house!
When you're done laying that hardwood, have the carpet store finish the edges of that remnant for you, and use it as an area rug in the room over the garage.
