An easy way to add color to your kitchen is with artwork (prints, posters). Since you said you like yellow here is an example you could hang on the wall by the table:

Uncorked Print | Ballard Designs

You can easily spice it up by using accessories in bright colors including storage containers, tablecloths and placemats, utensil holders, dishtowels, napkins etc. If there is a Home Goods store near you, that is a great place to find affordable things. You can take them all with you when you move.

I like your kitchen. It is nice. I love the black appliances.

I never understand why over the sink they put the cabinets so high like that, to me it is wasted space. I have my cabinets even with the rest, and I like it better.

I would put a shelf across there to make it even. It looks like one big open nothing. If you are not handy, you can always hang a picture. That space just needs something

and like everyone else said, paint is your friend.

Or if I can find one I like! @nuts2uiam, I've already painted it. I would've loved to done this kitchen in a soft yellow, but where it connects to the living room I had to coordinate my colors with that
