I must have originally skipped over the sentence explaining the picture was the "after" shot because I was thinking, "Dang, if that's worn out and dingy I'd hate for them to see my kitchen...."
Gorgeous. Love the look of the various cabinet heights, color choices, lighting, flooring, paint, etc. But with me being vertically challenged, I wonder how many of your cabinets I'd actually be able to open without a step-stool. Once again another reason I hate being short.
I too wondered if you had seating on the "fridge side" of the island. Didn't look like you would since I didn't see a countertop overhang.
I am a microwaver. So I'd want the micro more central in the kitchen and not on the outskirts. Plus with the handle on the right side, you have to almost leave the kitchen to use it. I guess if you rarely use yours, that suits your needs.
I love your kitchen...
However, you did ask for our input, so here goes:
I like the isle in the middle, but in the context of all the rest of the furniture, I would have changed it for a table. You have enough space for all the kitchen utensils in your other cabinets and you can use the table for cooking just as well.
Something square, not very big, to have enough room for the chairs. For me a kitchen has to have a place where I can eat, I don't want to travel to the dining room with the food all the time.
Maybe you have a table that is out of sight, and then my comment is not important...
Remisc, what is the length of the space between your sink cabinet and the island? We are planning a kitchen remodel/gut, and it will be a "U" design with an island - very similar to yours. Thanks!
1st time on these boards, because I'll be doing my kitchen soon.
May I ask what brand of cabinets & counter tops did you use?
