We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen. It will have cream (toward yellow) cabinets with dark gray soapstone (almost black) counters and a medium color wood floor. The island cabinets are a medium distressed green finish and the wood trim is white dove.

For several weeks DW has been looking at colors but can't make up her mind. She has talked with two deocrators and our painter about color for the walls. We were thinking of going with a taupe but the color one of the decorators chose is too gray (we painted the laundry room that color). Another color the painter suggested looks too brown (our firend called it dog poo).

Now DW is thinking going with cream (basically the smae color as the cabinets). This came up after she met with a second decorator. I think it will not look good. It will blend with the cabinets and not allow them to be seen for the beautiful (and expensive) feature they are. Also to me the color will seem too cold. We are trying to keep the room warm (the room faces south and has a lot of light from sliders and an oversized window over the sink) so I think we should go with another shade of taupe that is redder and browner than our previous colors. Any thoughts? Jay

Oh I forgot to add that the painter wants to paint tomorrow so I need some opinions fast. Thanks, Jay

It is next to impossible to recommend colors with no pictures. One person's green is another person's blue.

What about a light shade of the green that is on the island?

Panic over. We had the paint store decorator over and she suggested that. I think the color looks great so this is likely what we will do. Thanks for the responses. Jay
