Hi There!

As I recently posted, I just closed on my house in the past week and got my keys yesterday! This weekend I plan on starting to decorate (as I won't be able to get contractors out to do quotes for the repairs until next week) and I want to start in the bathrooms.

I plan on keeping the original tiles & fixtures in both main level bathrooms (Save the Pink Bathrooms!) but they both have old wallpaper on all of the untiled sections of wall. From the design of the wallpaper, I assume they are either from 1959 when the house was built or otherwise put in not long afterwards.

What I find odd though- is to the touch, the wallpaper in the main hall bathroom feels tacky, almost sticky. My theory is that the humidity from the bathroom caused the wallpaper glue to leak through the paper, making it feel like that. Is that possible?

Anyway- my question is... do any of you have any really good tips on removing old old stubborn wallpaper? I don't want to rip half the drywall away with it when I start attempting to remove it!

Also, this is the first time (since childhood helping my Mum redecorate) that I've ever dealt with wallpaper- to repaint the area afterwards, will regular primer work or do I need something special? Sorry if the questions sound so dense!

I appreciate your tips & advice in advance!

Thanks!

Got all the wallpaper off today! I then filled in the holes. Tomorrow I'm going to clean the walls so they're ready to paint Getting the wallpaper off was a LOT easier than I thought it would be!
