I love both of them! Very beautiful. I guess I would modify the second one so there were no impaling pointy parts. That would be dangerous around kids. It would have been very easy to just make those branches wrap around each other and end without a saber point.

OMg, I thought it was just me when I first looked at it, I then read all the comments, so that made me feel better.

It reminded me of an enchanted forest that was wicked......................

Not sure about the "beautiful" part-

But I'd say it was influenced by JRR Tolkien's Hobbit illustrations.

The wooden one - interesting and an eye-catcher. Surely something very unique. Not like a banister in every other house...

I just love those nature inspired modern art bannisters. I do think they are beautiful. Each to his own I guess. Personally I'm more into a modern contemporary. It stems from one of my instructors at art school. We had one assignment that produced an overwhelming amount of antique reference, which we were greatly admiring at the time. He lectured us about our duty of producing new art, not continually referencing, albeit wonderful, art made by others in the past. It turned my thinking around slowly but surely. I always admire a product that makes me think and laugh at the same time.

It's entirely possible to appreciate modern contemporary and think that's creepy.

It reminds me of a horror movie where the trees come alive.

While I appreciate the craftsmanship, it is a little too personalized and, I hate to say it, creepy for me. I am a boring traditionalist.

A kid could not slide down a bannister like in post #16. Sad.
