I have found the perfect draperies for my house. Unfortunately, I can't find sheers to go with them. White is too stark. I had a set of ivory cotton sheers I bought at Target for my son's room a few years ago. They compliment the draperies perfectly! I can't find them or anything like them anywhere! Almost all of non-white sheers out there are overly yellow or silkly-like materials. I need this more casual look of cotton. I don't want a stiff fake linen either.

I've been to Target (since that's where I got them), J C Penny, Sears, Kmart, Walmart, Kohls, even Joanne Fabrics (figuring I'd make them myself). I don't want to pay a fortune for them since I will be sewing them to custom fit them. I found these white ones at Pottery Barn but they are $79/panel and I'd have to try to dye them or coffee stain them, which could go very badly.

Where have I missed? Any ideas?

I might have found something.

Voile Pole Pocket Drape | Pottery Barn

But the color looks too yellow and they look flimsy compared to what I'm hoping to find.

Have you tried going to your local fabric store? Making sheers like this is easy and you'll often have a LOT more options for fabrics and colors than just buying pre-made from a store.

Yes, that's Joanne Fabric. They don't have much of a selection.

I'm thinking of buying yards of the custom fabric that JC Penny has.

It's a large selection so I'll likely find something there.

I just discovered that there are a few independent fabric stores in the city.

I'm heading there today!

Get white ones, soak them in tea. Increase the strength of the tea until you get the color you want. Soak in tea, rinse, check color, soak again if you want darker. I did this for my veil when I got married, worked wonderfully!

Have you checked Country Curtains?

That catalog can be pricey, though ...

It has been a few years, but I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond and the price was very reasonable.

I haven't tried Ikea. I'll check them out.

I might resort to the tea staining. I'm just terrified of it being blotchy or not getting each panel the same color.

Already went to BB&B.

I'll check Country Curtains, but my style is more contemporary. If they have plain cotton sheers, I can make that work. I'll be sewing these curtains to size so the fabric is what really counts.

Thanks for the suggestions!
