Hi forum,

I just bought a condo and am having 24x24" linen tile installed to almost the entire place. My installer said I should also install the tile in the half bath but I should not in my master bath. Any thoughts on this? Should the master bath and half bath have the same tile as the rest of the condo? And is it ok for both baths to have different tiles if I decide to have other tile installed in the bathroom? Thanks!

Your place your preference. We have three bathrooms, three different floors.

I like the continuity of the same flooring throughout an entire home especially if it is an open floorplan, a smaller space, and there are no thresholds. However, having a different tile in either bathroom is fine. I would stay in the same color or tonal range though, since the tiles are light colored, I wouldn't pick a really dark tile for either bathroom or a warm toned white or grey if the other tile is a cool toned white/grey. It would probably look better to use a smaller tile in the bathrooms maybe a mosaic or 1"-3" tile (maybe rectangular in a running bond or herringbone)? And maybe something in 4"-8" in the master? Definitely have a threshold of either stone or tile as a transition between the different types of tile, so they don't just look butted up against each other.

your saying condo, so i am thining not huge, not to be offensive.
I would stick with the same flooring through out.

My apartment is only a one bedroom and I have the same wood flooring in all the rooms, even the bathroom. I like the continuity of it, not that I can spell it.

I don't think I would like two different tiles right next to each other, unless it was the same tile in a different size. For example, if the hallway is 24" x 24" linen, a bathroom off the hallway could be 12" x 12" of the same linen tile, but set on a diagonal. (You get the idea.) If a carpeted area separates the spaces, I think either way works. For instance, if your master bedroom is carpeted, I don't think you have to have the same tiles in the master bath as the rest of the house.

Congratulations on your new place!

Hi
Same tiles in both look more vibrant I think it added more grace while you try same color tiles. I like the continuity of the same flooring throughout an entire washroom. So I suggest you go for same flooring.

With our floor plan the tile continuity looks best, more professional and does not have that piece meal or patchwork like look.
