There is a Sherwin Williams color called Austere Gray. Its a very nice neutral color and looks good with silver. Since it almost looks like a green on the wall, red would compliment very well. I painted our living room the Austere Gray and everyone compliments it and says they love the color. Artwork wise, you can do your own with paint from your accent wall and some little $.80 temper paints from the local craft store. Just keep an eye out for cheap canvases. Another idea is get some picture frames with some pretty scrapbook paper or material put in them. Check out Pinterest also. It has so many great ideas.
Another color idea....Purple. There is a color at Home Depot that is a Victorian Purple that is very pretty. If I could get away with painting my bathroom that color I would. But I'm pushing the limit with purple rugs and throw pillow on my bedroom/bathroom. My poor husband lol!
Last fall my wife "redid" 3 rooms in the house we moved in a year ago and she has started up again this year. With shopping around plus finding some good looking curtains on clearance at Penney's, she just barely broke $300 on the 3 rooms. Something we found that looks great and didn't cost very much was bead board wallpaper. We found it at Lowe's. It looks great and was a lot easier to put up than bead board paneling.
If you only one wall to paint...go for it, It's not that hard to go another way later. Buy wall art that matches the red and silver colors .
I like the idea of getting some wall art that matches your accent color.
I redecorated my living room back in January and I had a few prints done by Shutterfly. They look great and you can't beat the price when compared to what you pay for most prints.
Have you thought about curtains? If you want to go with red as an accent color maybe a set of nice red curtains would work for you? I found these if you're looking for an fairly inexpensive option. I'm not exactly what red you are looking for, but I like the shape of these.
