Actually, you don't use a lot of the darker color, and yes it will ground the room. Every room needs some sort of grounding color, IMO. All bright blues and whites will fight with each other for your attention.
I you were using all browns and dark yellows, you would want to add some blue or green Its the same difference.
If you have a vivid piece of art in bold reds and oranges, would you frame it in red or orange? No. You would frame it in black or brown. Its the same principle.
If you designed a needlework project in bright yellows and greens, you would need to add a little dark brown or black to make the piece pop. Its the same design principle.
All brights, or darks, or jewel tones, or grays need another color added to make the design sparkle.
I like it as is. I don't like beds in front of the window - I think it blocks light and airflow.
But it doesn't matter what I like. It matters what YOU like.
