You will find that the light colors in solvent borne alkyds such as Moore Satin Impervo tend to yellow quickly since the EPA mandated reformulations. The Moore Advance, a water borne alkyd, is much better in that respect but considerably more prep is needed. Both require significant prep to minimize chipping or peeling.
Thanks I'm using a dark charcoal color of the Moore Advance. Sanded the wood lightly, cleaned it with tack cloth and then denatured alcohol. Applied it very thinly. It is looking great. I like the grain of the wood showing through. So far so good.
