I can't recall what I used to clean them. Swiffer maybe? They were much more water tolerant then the wood floors.

I am reading now and it sounds like grit & sand are the most important to keep up...
I need to find a vacuum that is easy to lug up 3 stories and does a good job with hard floors..

You won't be able to use a bucket and mop on a laminate unless you ensure your mop is just damp, not soaking wet. You want to avoid water settling into the cracks. I prefer to do my laminate by hand. Think Zen -- wash on with one hand, wipe dry with the other hand as you go. Drying as you go helps prevent streaking. I just use hot water. It doesn't leave a film. Vinegar is another option, but I rarely use it because I can't stand the smell.

This site gives you different cleaners to use for different types of dirt and stains:

Both where white with butcher block tops. I can't do the counter height table because my husband doesn't want to sit on a high stool/chair.

I'm seriously considering butcher block too. I posted in a recent pros/cons thread that I was definitively doing it. Now I'm a bit more indecisive, but only because I'm concerned about my husband being able to install it properly. If I can find a professional installation, I'm all for butcher block.

The first pic shows how great wood floors (whether Pergo, hardwood, or even vinyl) look with white cabinets. Love it!

Good point...I love wood & wood looking Pergo !!
That might be my kitchen with the floors, white cabinets, wood island & simple countertop.
I can't tell what that is but maybe soapstone???

I like the stainless steel appliances too to break that white up ...

If this were my kitchen I would paint that wall around the windows to add some color in the kitchen....

I don't know if you want to replace the kitchen sink, but I think the apron sinks are kind of interesting.

I am trying to keep the cost down to below 10 K but warm up the kitchen

The whole townhouse except bath & kitchen has medium dark (wood looking ) pergo floors. Would not be my choice over real wood but they do look nice.

The kitchen is now white/white/white !!!! White linolium floor , white appliances, white thermo wrapped cabinets & white laminite counters....

My style is wood, farmhouse kitchens, casual, natural & functional, simple & no busy patterns..I love to cook...
The layout is okay with the addition of a counter height table/island...

So for flooring I wonder what would look okay to blend with pergo wood that is everywhere else..I would do the kitchen in the same pergo as the house but I read that pergo is not a good choice in the kitchen & bath...

I am thinking a natural looking tile, leave white cabinets, granite counter & paint that goes with counter & tile...

Need ideas, design is not my strength !!!!
We are going through this right now: almost finished. We had prego (laminated) floors in our kitchen, entry hall and dining room. We had hoped to match or coordinate it throughout the house, but we ended up tearing it up and putting new flooring down. I am one that does like the laminate floor In the kitchen, but some prefer tile. We did our counter tops in granite, and the back splash in stone, and the new sink is a mocca color. We stuck with new white appliances. We had heard from many stainless steel was on its way out and we decided against black. White is always in, even if it isn't very exciting. Anyway our kitchen is looking almost like a dream kitchen. I just wish I had room for an island, but we don't. I can't really tell you if we went over the 10 grand, as we are having a lot else done. WE did not replace our cabinets but we did add new hardware to them.
