On another thread I’m talking about the progress of enclosing a porch.
Today, I’m on the hunt for an attractive fireplace screen for the fireplace which will become the focal point it was intended to be, once the other room is done. There sure are a million choices, so I’m not sure what I’ll wind up with. It will be black, but maybe with a bit of sparkle.
Girl. That is on my list as well, but I just haven't tackled it yet. Please post pictures!!!!!
I've ordered new living room furniture - sofa, love seat, ottoman and rug. Out with the old sectional. Old rug will go in the master, for now. Can't wait to finally have something new.
My whole house is undergoing change right now. The entire main floor is being repainted from a dull gray to a warm cream shade (Polished Pearl), which really brightens things up. The change, for me, is so welcome as I like light, bright shades and it makes the rooms look bigger and more cozy at the same time. I'm also having the upstairs painted the same shade, and I'll probably have new carpet installed up there that will coordinate nicely with the cream shade. In the meantime, I'll have a handrail installed along with the rest of my window blinds and all of my curtain rods and curtains - yay! it's a lot more fun doing this than having a new sump pump and a new roof installed, and prettier too (although I'm glad I just got those as well!).
I bought a new computer desk-a Saunders so now I'm putting it together.
I didn't want a Saunders. The one that I am replacing is a Saunders and I thought that I wanted something a little more-higher end. There were some features that I was specifically looking for and the only ones that had them without costing megabucks was Saunders. Then I started to think about it. The desk I have now-yeah, it is presswood but I have had it for 25 years. I remember I paid $99 (probably more with tax).
Yeek. We paid about $1,200 for that type of computer desk several years ago, but it was Ethan Allen. You got a good deal.
Yah, I’m waiting until I get closer to the actual transformation. I will be taking down all the art, and probably painting, so my over all vision hasn’t gelled yet. It could turn out, ill go in a totally different direction.
There are a few screen styles that are way more elaborate. It’s not my nature to go that way, but I’m pondering on it.

Being in about the same situation, I totally get what you're saying. I look at fire screens and think, "Ehhhh, maybe..." but it's hard to make that commitment. It's such a focal point in our homes!

I did look at Ethan Allen. They are VERY expensive. Is yours presswood? That is why my is cheap...er...inexpensive. If it was solid wood, it would be BOOCOO bucks!
Well, my new rug and an ottoman arrived today. Sofa and loveseat still in transit. Forgot to get a rug pad so more $$ but I think it'll be worth it.
