Like I said, it looks way better in person though, the flash is deceiving. Also, make sure that you paint the frames separately from the grilles and put the grilles on when it is all thoroughly dry, at least a full 24 hours.

But it is definitely not necessary, just a personal preference thing. I will say some of the color plastics certain speakers are made with are an unnatural white that just does not go with a lot of paints.

I'm in that boat also. I decided to leave 'em alone. If you spray and I have a sprayer, you'll most likely get paint mist on the actual drivers which will dry and make them brittle or maybe eat through the surround depending on composition. Poking the
holes after they clog makes me think of paint dripping on the speaker.Sherifftruman did an excellent job from the photos. If
you are very careful and take your time, go for it. I would use a mini sponge roller with just enough paint to lightly cover. Dry
with a fan and do about 4 coats like that. The BAD thing about painting them even if you use primer,if they get hit or scraped
they WILL peel. Krylon Fusion is excellent, but your color choice is limited. GOOD LUCK!

Dry rolling is the way to go on these, for sure. Sherifftruman, I believe your speakers are just missing the thin scrim that goes inside the speaker grill to keep the speakers from showing thru.

I personally recently invested in some Spectrum M8's [Mod cut] for my house, and couldn't be happier. With the "zero-frame", once they are painted they blend in perfectly with the ceiling. And they sound absolutely amazing for ceiling speakers

I think the speaker covers would look good painted to match the wall. A white or different color cover would stand out too much, in my opinion.

I bought a house last year, and the fire alarms, wall vents, and doorbell box were painted to match the walls. It says right on the fire alarm, "Do not paint". I had to replace almost all of the fire alarms.
