Repainting kitchen cabinets (vinyl, paint, orange, green)

I'm in the process of repainting my kitchen cabinets. The kitchen needs a new look.

I had these rubber shelve liners and when I pulled them up they felt sticky. I figured it's grease, so I washed them all in TSP, dried them on a clothesline, and they are still sticky. The shelves themselves are really sticky, where the rubber liners used to be. I don't know if it's just grease, or the orignal pain didn't cure long enough before I put stuff back. Any ideas on how to get rid of my sticky mess? I'm going to hit it again with TSP. I'll be doing that all day.

I'm almost ready to not repaint the inside of the cabinets, just the outside.

The sticky stuff is the rubber breaking down. Foam does that after a long time. It becomes mushy and sticky. You can use orange degreaser/cleaner, simple green. You can go with lacquer thinner or acetone but that will probably strip the paint too. And it will smell bad. Goof off will work but its gonna strip the paint probably

You could try WD40, that will sometimes take off sticky things.

Well, I think I'll just get some vinyl shelve liner and plunk it over the inside of the shelves. Whatever hapens then happens.

So, I wasted about two hours washing those old shelve liners trying to be trifty. Well, live and learn.
