This probably sounds like a dumb question, but I am a single female. I think I need a new garage door. The one I have now (which is connected to an automatic opener) keeps coming off the track on one side. I am wondering if that can be fixed...or do I need a whole new garage door?
If I need a whole new garage door, do I also need a new garage door opener or can the new door be connected to the old opener? Thanks for any help!
It sounds like you have a bad roller (or two) call a garage door company and have them look at it. IF you do need a new door, there is no reason to replace a working opener, it can be mounted on any door. If the repairman insist on selling you a new door, get a second opinion. Good luck.
If the opener is old.
If the opener is under powered.
If the opener is a crappy design.
Then replacing it at the same time is not that much money.
For example: Chamberlain Whisper Drive® 3/4 HPS Belt Drive Garage Door Opener with MyQ® Technology and Battery Backup WD962KEV
is $250 + tax + installation.

Nodpete, yes...that is what the issue is! Two of the little rollers keep coming off the track on the left side of the garage door. Twice now I had to go out there, stand on a step stool and manually push them back on track. By the time I got done with that, I was covered in black grease! I'll call for a couple estimates. Thank you!

Disagree on the old.
My parents have openers from 1983. One of mine is from 1987.
Every garage guy who I have ever met says not to change them till they are dead on the ground in pieces bc newer models are crap and sure as hell won't give you 30 years of maintenance-free operation.

Thanks, Dave...I'll keep that in mind in case I do need a new opener!

Thanks, Stan4. Sounds like everything else they make these days...get poorer and poorer quality. I'll keep that in mind.
