I am about to become a homeowner again after a 17 year absence. I found my perfect bedroom color many years ago and used it in my first 2 homes. It was called "Dresden pink" and was only available at Hechingers. I have never had another chain get it right. With all the new reference technology, is there a way to find the formula to match it.

you need a sample of the color. -something that color, not a picture. Then take it to a paint store, not a hardware store or some such that sells paint.

Not sure if it can be matched with just the name unless you remember the brand of paint.

I found this for you. I think a paint store might be able to figure out from the code on this color chip what formula to use for Dresden Pink. However, the code is incomplete. You might have to infer what it was.

But, honestly, you might never be able to recreate the pink in your memory. So many things influence how we perceive color in a room. Light, the color on the ceilings and the other furnishings, for instance. I'd try for a pleasant pink that you love, and use that. Trying to match what you remember is probably just going to be frustrating. But, you might have a go with the photographed paint chip. Maybe there is enough info for a good paint seller to recreate it. Good luck.
