About the same here. The only time I use shakers is when I'm the cook at the camp out.

Personally, salt has long fallen out of favor with me.....and for that matter, so has standard pepper. But I am more likely to use a pepper grinder than a salt shaker.

As things go, grinders play more to my romantic side than just plain shakers.

If, by chance, I do get shakers as a gift.....they usually end up in a curio cabinet.

If you live in the U.S., apparently, you're supposed to put your pepper in the one with more holes because it's harder for the pepper to come out. However, when I looked it up many different people are divided on the issue.
Actually as far as I know and have always been taught you put the salt in the shaker with the most holes. I am not quite sure where you heard this. Of course, many of us today use salt and pepper grinders so it isn't an issue. I only use salt and pepper shakers pretty much when we have a dinner party and I bring out the special ones. Even when we have a casual party we use grinders.

No shakers here. Grinders for various types of pepper and also dried hot peppers. Salt comes in olive wood salt cellars. Glass jars with spoons for kitchen usage.
