Would you put a ceiling fan in a bedroom? With 4 high hats around it? Would you use a light kit to lit the fan up if so? Or do you hate ceiling fans, or think they are dated?
Interesting question. I actually do like a ceiling fan in a bedroom. We put a really nice one in the last house we lived in. I like the air movement at night. In our present bedroom, a ceiling fan would not look right. We have two down lights in the ceiling, and I can't imagine where I'd put a fan, and besides, it would have to be wired. So, we won't do that for this bedroom.
Fans are not as "hot" as they were 30 years ago, but handsome ones can still be found. I don't think they are too dated to be used. Cheap ceiling fans look cheap. I like the ones that have a more integrated light fixture in them. The fans that have lights that look stuck on, are not as attractive, in my opinion.
But I wouldn't use one unless I felt the fan served a useful function in the room.
I don't really like ceiling fans at all. But, I do have one in my kitchen, I like what it does.
I would never have one in my bedroom, because I don't like the steady constant wind on me, but that's just me.
I would though, if I had to have a ceiling fan in the bedroom would NOT get lights on it, just the fan. I am assuming you have lamps? If you do, then lights on a ceiling fan are not needed.
Even in my kitchen I hate the look of the light bulbs showing, but I have no choice.....
so my answer to the question is, No, I do not like a ceiling fan in the bedroom.

I don't really have an opinion one way or the other about how they look. They are what they are and they serve a purpose. The early 1960s-era site-built house I lived in previously had ceiling heat. You basically had to have ceiling fans running full time for it to work to any degree of efficiency at all.
Now with prefab house life comes the obligatory central heat pump. And with that comes electric floor heating (really, really modern in '86) *and* ceiling fans in every room, all under the same manufactured roof.
Gee... I might just take the furnace taken out next year, to save a bit of electricity. Doesn't even have a bloody air conditioner, making it practically worthless in the summer. Have to run that one past the boss.

We have one in our master which has a vaulted ceiling. We enjoy sleeping with the windows opened rather than AC, there are just some nights that the air outside is so still the fan helps. Honestly, we don't use it often. It's a fancy fan, I don't find it that offensive. Plus our master is on our second floor, kids rooms/ guest rooms and living space are downstairs. Nobody but DH and I ever see our master bedroom so it doesn't really matter anyway.
Nope. I far prefer the far less expensive oscillating fans (set high on a shelf).
