I love our blingy powder room that we just renovated, New Orleans style.

Yes, I'm a native of Nawlins. And a Saints fan. I try to be subtle about it but it's hard.

Kathryn - love your powder room! So much better than the old dated striped wallpaper. I think small powder rooms are the perfect space to go a little "over the top" with decor. In my previous half bath, I turned it into my "map room". I love maps & geography and have acquired quite a few framed maps over the years. I had grasscloth put on the powder room walls and covered just about every availalbe bit of wall space with my map collection and framed pics from travels. Anyone who ever came to my house and used it LOVED it! I always got comments on how interesting and neat it was.

That is an awesome idea. I love maps too!

We did our laundry room, which is small, in a UK theme from our trip there last year. It was a great little spot to put framed photos (we edited them to look artsy - LOL) and some UK stuff in there, and we have a floor to ceiling mirror framed out like a red British phone booth right outside the door of the laundry room. I really like your map idea - maybe I could find a wall mural of the British Isles for in there...

I sound like I have all sorts of "theme rooms" in my house, which would be weird now that I think of it. I really don't - but upstairs we have two guest rooms and one is a "guy" room and one is a "girl" room - if that counts.

My favorite room is probably our family room. Really though, it's the only room that we've done much of anything to. The dining room is my second favorite, but I'm not totally happy with it yet; the accessorizing is off and I really need to add some drapery weights to the curtains. On that note, I just discovered drapery weights... they are awesome! I wish I had known about them when I made all the curtains in my last house.

This is the family room; the couch and fireplace side:

Since these pictures were taken I've gotten a different bowl for the coffee table that is much better.

The bar side:

I wish that silly black chair wasn't in that picture! It's not part of the plan at all, but it was put there during a party and comes in so handy that it basically hasn't left. New chairs are part of my plan (someday).

Thanks! I realized that the bar cabinets look a lot more blue than teal, but in real life they are the same color as the teal in the rug and vases above the fire place. So, things coordinate well, I think. It's also hard to tell, but the counter top on the bar is copper. It's pretty cool in person.

Love this!

And KA, love the blingy powder room too!

I can't wait to post my own photos, although my new furniture is all on order so I won't have completed rooms in the new house for a while.

This looks fantastic.

One question - I can't tell from the angle of the photo. Is that a dining room height table or more of a coffee table? Do you eat outdoors or back inside at the dining room table? Of course with the wall open, it's just about outdoors anyway!
